Should you buy a metallic laminate kitchen?
If you’re looking for a new kitchen, you might have considered a metallic kitchen. Metallic kitchens are distinctive and look great. However, there are several different types of metallic kitchen, one of which is a metallic laminate kitchen.
So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of metallic laminate kitchens and should you buy one?
Reasons for buying a metallic laminate kitchen:
Cost
Metallic laminate kitchens are the least expensive type of metallic kitchen you can buy. They usually cost similar to most other laminate and lacquered laminate kitchens.
Durability
This is another area they score highly. Laminate kitchens are all extremely resilient. They are especially resistant to scratches, chips and dents — vital whether or not you have kids.
In contrast, a metallic lacquered kitchen is considerably more delicate and can be easily chipped.
Looks
In addition, like any form of metallic kitchen, they look fantastic. Do you want the stylish, sparkly look of a metallic kitchen without costing the earth or risking easy damage? A metallic laminate kitchen will offer all of that.
Reasons not to buy a metallic laminate kitchen:
Limited choice
Most of the brands that offer them, typically don’t offer much variety of colour or finish. Typically, there’ll only be two or three colours on offer and normally only one finish — usually smooth.
By comparison, if you go for a metallic lacquered kitchen, you’ll have many more options. With a metallic lacquered kitchen, you’ll normally have a choice of at least five or six different colours and often 2 or 3 different finishes to choose from. The finishes will typically include smooth, brushed and antique.
Looks
A metallic laminate kitchen isn’t the best-looking type of metallic kitchen. Yes, compared with a non-metallic kitchen, it looks great. However, there are far better choices. There’s no comparison with, for example, a metallic lacquered kitchen or a real metal kitchen.
Limited availability
The other big problem with a metallic laminate kitchen is the lack of availability. There is only a hand full of brands that offer them. So, if you’ve got your heart set on buying one, you may have a long search.
