How to get the best deal on Scandinavian design kitchens
If you’re considering a new kitchen, then it’s quite possible that you’re thinking seriously about Scandinavian design kitchens. It doesn’t get much better than the clean, bright lines of the Scandinavian look designed specially for your needs.
There are innumerable outlets for Scandinavian design kitchens, though, with a wide range of both quality and price. So how do you find the best deal — high quality at a price that doesn’t say “millionaires only”?
Scandinavian design kitchens from the high street chains or trade-only suppliers
For many people, the first stop would be either one of the the large high street chains such as Wren or Magnet or a trade-only supplier such as Howdens, Benchmarx or Magnet Trade. The benefit of using one of these suppliers is that their Scandinavian design kitchens are cheap — however, there are downsides.
For one thing, the quality of the units isn’t great, and they’re certainly not built to last. The chains & trade-only suppliers both use low-quality components for their kitchens, and you’re unlikely to get more than five years from them.
Besides this, their design service is usually poor, with little consideration of how to make best use of the available space. The chains and trade-only suppliers both design kitchens using a one-size-fits-all approach, with little or no thought for each client’s individual requirement.
A third issue is that, while the kitchens from the chains are cheap, they charge a lot for fitting — typically around £5,000.
Scandinavian design kitchens from the well known high-end suppliers
At the other end of the scale, you might consider one of the well-known, high-end suppliers such as Roundhouse or Sola Kitchens. The Scandinavian design kitchens you’ll get from these are extremely high quality and will last a very long time. Also, unlike the one-size-fits-all approach of the chains, they’ll design your kitchen according to your individual requirements.
As you might expect, this doesn’t come cheap — they charge up to ten times as much as the chains or trade-only suppliers for the units. You’ll certainly get a superb kitchen, but this option is likely to be out of most people’s price range.
Scandinavian design kitchens from smaller, high-end suppliers
Besides the well-known high-end suppliers, there are many smaller, lesser-known equivalents. Many of them provide Scandinavian design kitchens that are just as high-quality as the well known high-end suppliers.
The problem going this route though is that the prices they charge vary greatly. So, while some charge as much as the well-known, high-end suppliers, some charge little more than the high-street chains and trade-only suppliers.

“After visiting a number of bespoke kitchen suppliers and receiving sky high quotes, I stumbled upon Kitchenfindr’s website. Lloyd recommended two showrooms, both of which quoted me half of what the showrooms I had found quoted”
Shaf Zaman, Clapham, London
“Kitchenfindr recommended a showroom who were much better value than most of the other showrooms I’d previously looked at”
Hannah Malone, Esher, Surrey
“No-one should buy a kitchen without speaking to Kitchenfindr first. The worrying bit is that if you don’t get his advice, you could easily end up spending £15k upwards more”
Bal Pabla, Romford, Essex
