Where to find the best-value Japandi kitchens
If you’re looking for a new kitchen, one of the options you may consider is a Japandi kitchen. Combining the most attractive elements of both Japanese and Scandinavian styles, Japandi kitchens have increased in popularity recently.
Lots of places sell Japandi kitchen. But where can you find the best-value suppliers?
Japandi kitchens from the high-street chains and trade-only suppliers
For most people, the first port of call is likely to be one of the big high-street chains. Whether you go for Wren, Magnet or Wickes, they’re familiar names, and there’s probably one near you. Alternatively, you might go through your builder, who can use one of the trade-only suppliers such as Howdens, Benchmarx or Magnet Trade.
Besides convenience, the big selling-point of these companies is that their kitchens are cheap. Unfortunately, though, that doesn’t just apply to their prices — their kitchens are also cheap in quality too. Therefore, buying a Japandi kitchen from one of these places is a false economy, because it won’t last very long. Within a few years, you’ll be ripping it out and putting a better quality kitchen in. As the old saying goes, “buy cheap, buy twice”
The other problem with the chains and trade-only suppliers is that their designs are usually poor. This is for three reasons: Firstly, their designs rarely make good use of the available space. Secondly, their designs often contain design errors. An example of a design error is placing a fridge freezer or a fridge too close to a wall. Doing this means the customer will lose access to the salad drawer in the fridge. This is because when they try opening the salad drawer, it will hit into the side of the bottle shelf. Thirdly, sometimes their designs don’t actually fit the space. Unfortunately, many clients don’t discover this until the kitchen is being installed, by which time it’s too late.
Japandi kitchens from a high-end bespoke supplier
At the other end of the scale, you could try one of the high-end bespoke suppliers for your Japandi kitchen. There are a number of these — the best-known include companies like Roundhouse and Sola Kitchens.
If you go to one of these suppliers, you’ll get a superb kitchen that will last for many years and should be well designed.
The downside, as might be expected, is the cost — they all charge a small fortune.
Japandi kitchens from a smaller supplier
Besides the high-street chains, trade-only suppliers and high-end bespoke suppliers, there are many smaller suppliers who sell Japandi kitchens.
These differ in both price and quality. Therefore, while some are just as cheap and low-quality as places like Howdens, Wren, Magnet and Wickes, others are just as expensive and high-quality as places like Roundhouse and Sola Kitchens.
The good news is, you don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune to get a good-quality kitchen. If you know the right smaller suppliers to visit, it’s possible to get a kitchen that costs similar to places like Howdens, Wren, Magnet and Wickes, but is much higher-quality.
Plus, the right smaller suppliers will design your kitchens just as well, if not better than places like Roundhouse and Sola Kitchens.
