How do EGGER Kitchens compare to other brands?
EGGER Kitchens are a brand sold mainly by independent kitchen showrooms throughout the UK. They have a good reputation, but just how good value are they, compared with the other alternatives out there?
These are both other brands sold by independent kitchen showrooms and large, well-known suppliers like Howdens, Wickes and Wren. However, this is a slightly different process from assessing most brands, because EGGER Kitchens are a little unusual.
EGGER make doors, not complete kitchens — why this is important
It’s vital to bear in mind that, unlike many kitchen brands, EGGER Kitchens specialise in one component of the kitchen only, the doors. However, a complete kitchen is made up of many components, such as doors, carcasses, hinges, mechanisms and storage solutions.
EGGER specialise in manufacturing doors for kitchens. However, this arrangement has the potential to cause problems, for two main reasons.
Firstly, if you buy an EGGER kitchen from a supplier, the rest of the components will come from other manufacturers. You normally won’t be told where these parts have come from. This means that even though the EGGER doors you’ve chosen maybe good quality, how do you know the rest of the kitchen is good quality too?
The second issue is come back/peace of mind. If, a few years down the line, you get problems with the doors, you can go back to the retailer. If the retailer is no longer trading, you could then go back to Egger. However, if something goes wrong with the carcasses, hinges, mechanisms or storage solutions, if the retailer’s no longer trading, you’ve got nowhere else to go back to. This is because you won’t know who manufactured the carcasses, hinges, mechanisms or storage solutions.
What’s the alternative to Egger Kitchens?
The alternative is to buy a kitchen from a complete kitchen manufacturer/brand. Complete kitchen manufacturers/brands manufacture all of the kitchen, not just the doors. Buying a kitchen from one of these brands will give you more come back if you get problems with the kitchen and the retailer you purchased it from is no longer trading.
