The 3 top kitchen design trends for 2017
As 2016 draws to a close, it’s time to take a look at the kitchen design trends for 2017. Here are the top 3 kitchen design trends we predict to become hot for 2017.
Kitchen Design Trends – In-Frame kitchens
This year we saw an increasing number of customers asking for in-frame kitchens. 3 years ago, In-Frame kitchens were only available at the luxury end of the market. However, things have started to change and In-Frame kitchens are starting to become more widely available to the mass market. Below are examples of painted wood In-Frame kitchens.
Unfortunately In-Frame kitchens are still one of the most expensive types of kitchen you can buy, however their are ways to achieve the same look for much less money. Their are now a wide variety of mock In-Frame kitchens available on the market. These look almost identical to In-Frame kitchens but can cost up to half the price. The two main types of mock In-Frame kitchens are made from painted MDF or vinyl. Vinyl is the cheaper of the two. The kitchens below are both Mock In-Frame kitchens.
Although In-Frame kitchens can still be expensive, we’re predicting they’ll become one of the kitchen design trends for 2017.
Kitchen Design Trends – Stone & Metal Effect kitchens
Another kitchen design trend we’re predicting for 2017 are stone are metal effect kitchens.
2016 saw a big increase in the demand for concrete effect kitchens. However we’re also starting to see a rise in the demand for ceramic, copper and bronze effect kitchens.
The other good thing about these kitchens is that the suppliers usually offer a laminate worktop in the same material to match the door.
Below are examples of concrete, ceramic, bronze and copper effect kitchens. Most of the kitchens below are shown with the matching laminate worktops that are also available.
Kitchen Design Trends – Smooth Shaker kitchens
Another kitchen design trend we’re predicting for 2017 is the continued growth in the demand for shakers with a smooth finish. These have a contemporary silky smooth finish rather than a more traditional woodgrain finish. Also, being crafted from 1 piece of material rather than 5, there’s none of the joints that you’ll find on a 5 piece shaker.
Smooth shakers come in 2 types of material. Either vinyl or foil wrapped or painted MDF. The painted MDF type costs about 25% more, however, there’s no risk of a painted MDF door peeling/de-laminating like there is with a vinyl or foil wrapped door.
Below are examples of smooth shaker kitchens.
