Where to get the best kitchen design ideas from
We’d all love to find top-quality kitchen design ideas when we’re having a new kitchen installed. If you’re made of money, you can find bespoke kitchens from top designers, but that’s beyond most of us. So where will you find the best kitchen design ideas at an affordable price?
Kitchen design ideas from the high street chains
The obvious starting point would be one of the high street chains. Unfortunately, all their talk about great quality for low prices is just a big sales pitch. Their prices are fairly cheap, however, they aren’t interested in kitchen design ideas to make the most of your space.
If you don’t need kitchen design ideas and are happy to just keep all your existing units in the same place and just replace them with new ones, the chains are probably ok. Their “sales designers” aren’t really equipped to deal with tricky problems of using the space, though. They’re far better at sales than design. Their efforts go into sales tricks like “50% off sales” that are nothing of the kind, rather than designing. So, if you’re looking for a good design that suits your individual requirements and makes best use of the available space, you’ll probably be better off looking elsewhere.
Kitchen design ideas from the trade only suppliers
A kitchen from the chains will be fairly cheap, but the fitting won’t be. One possible way of getting round this is to go through a builder, who can use the trade only suppliers. A builder will usually fit the kitchen at a far more reasonable rate than the chains.
However, trade only suppliers are usually no better at designing kitchens than the chains.
Kitchen design ideas from an independent kitchen showroom
A good independent kitchen showroom is the place to go for a good design. They’re not interested in sales tricks like inflating the price in order to give you “50% off”. Instead, they’ll place much more emphasis on the quality of the design.
At the chains and trade-only suppliers, sales designers get about twenty minutes to design your kitchen. In contrast, designers at a good independent kitchen showroom will spend 3 or 4 hours designing your kitchen. Unlike the chains and trade-only suppliers, a good independent will design your kitchen to make best use of the available space.
Unfortunately, finding a good independent isn’t easy. There are lots of independents around, however, most of them aren’t good. The other problem is many independents charge a lot more for the kitchen than places like Wren, Magnet and Howdens.
So, how do you find a good independent whose kitchens cost similar to places like Wren, Magnet and Howdens?
