3 top tips to find the best value fitted kitchens
Fitted kitchens involve making a major investment. Therefore, it’s a decision worth taking some time over, rather than going for the option closest to hand. Here are three top tips to make sure you get the best value for money.
Avoid the chains & trade only suppliers for fitted kitchens
The obvious choice might be to go to one of the big high street chains or trade only suppliers. After all, they’re convenient, and their advertisements constantly tell us their fitted kitchens are the cheapest. What’s more, the chances are they’ll have a sale offering 50% off.
Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems. The fitted kitchens offered by the chains & trade only suppliers are not only cheap in price, but also cheap in terms of quality. So, you’ll be sold a low quality kitchen for far more than it’s worth.
And, as for that 50% off sale, it’s the oldest sales trick in the book. All the chains do is inflate their prices so they can then offer large discounts. The discounts are designed to mislead you into thinking you’re getting a bargain.
Use a local independent showroom for fitted kitchens
There are independent kitchen showrooms everywhere charging all sorts of different prices for fitted kitchens. However, the best value ones will offer you a fitted kitchen that costs similar to the chains & trade suppliers, but is higher quality and will last much longer.
So, for example, you’ll get units constructed from high density chipboard. In contrast, the chains & trade only suppliers construct their units from cheap, low density chipboard. The problem with low density chipboard is it bows under the weight of the worktops. You’ll also get the high quality painted & lacquered type doors. In contrast, the chains & trade only suppliers use the lower quality wrapped type doors. The problem with the lower quality wrapped type doors is they peel.
Of course, to get this, you’ll need to know which local showrooms are the best value. That’s where I come in. I’ve spent years in the industry supplying independent showrooms up and down the country. Therefore, I know which brands of fitted kitchens most of them sell & how much they sell them for. This is why I can recommend the best value kitchen suppliers in your area.
Get it fitted by the independent showroom
When it comes to having your kitchen fitted, many people think the choice is either the ridiculously inflated rates charged by the big chains or getting a local builder. The problem with using a builder is that, though they might make an adequate job, they don’t have the specialist experience to achieve the best finish.
If you use the independent showroom who supplied the kitchen, they’ll charge similar to a builder. Plus, they’ll usually do a much better job than a builder will. Plus, because you’re using the same company to supply & fit your kitchen, there’s less chance of things going wrong. If you use multiple parties to supply your kitchen, there’s a high chance that things will go wrong. Usually these things will delay completion of the kitchen & can be stressful & costly to resolve.
If you’re having a new kitchen, you may well need other work done, from tiling to rewiring. The best value local showrooms will provide a one-stop shop, quoting for any extra work at less than half what the chains would charge.
