New mirror finish ceramic worktops launched by Consetino – Dekton XGloss
In 2014 Consetino launched Dekton, a revolutionary new range of ceramic worktops. This new surface is said to be more stain resistant, scratch resistant, heat resistant & impact resistant than granite and quartz worktops.
Consetino have just gone one step further & introduced XGloss to the Dekton ceramic worktop range. XGloss has all the strength & durability of the other finishes in Dekton but comes with a dazzling mirror like shine. Consetino claim that XGloss makes spaces appear bigger & brighter.
Xgloss come in 3 thicknesses: 20mm, 12mm & 8mm. The 12mm and 8mm sizes cater for those clients who are wanting the thinnest worktops possible to achieve the ultimate contemporary look.
To reach this spectacular finish, Cosentino Group’s Research & Developement department has developed a “Nanocoating Process”. This nanotechnology treatment gives Dekton XGloss unique water repellent properties. These properties enhance the colour, shine and feeling of the material while also giving it an extraordinary resistance to stains and Ultra Violet rays.
Xgloss is available in 5 different colours including Blaze (shown below) which is a gunmetal grey colour, Lumina which is a warm taupe colour and Halo featuring a soft white hue.
Do XGloss ceramic worktops have any disadvantages?
Cost
The main disadvantage of XGloss is cost. Just like all the other finishes in the Dekton ceramic worktops range, XGloss is expensive. To give you an idea of how expensive it is, at present it costs around 20% more than granite and quartz worktops. However, as ceramic worktops become more popular & more suppliers start selling the product, it’s cost should fall more in line with granite and quartz worktops.
Availability
The other disadvantage of XGloss & also for all other brands of ceramic worktops is availability. Ceramic worktops are still very new & therefore not all showrooms actually offer them yet. Therefore, it may even be difficult to find somewhere that has the product on display.
