How to get the best kitchen plan
If you’re looking for a new kitchen, you’ll need to find a great kitchen plan. A great kitchen plan should not only look good, but also be practical & work. But, where do you go to find the best kitchen plan?
A kitchen plan from the high street chains
Can you get a great kitchen plan from the high street chains like Wickes, Magnet and Wren? They’d like to convince you the answer is yes. You’ll certainly be greeted by a “sales designer”, but the emphasis here is on the sales.
They’ll tell you all about the special deals and discounts you can get, although you need to be careful here. Offers like “50% off” tend to be nothing but smoke and mirrors. And you’ll find that, among all this sales talk, the kitchen plan itself is done in a mere twenty minutes.
If all you need is a basic kitchen to replace a similar one, the chains will provide that. However, If you want a new design done that works well & suits your specific needs, you may not get what you want. Remember, the sales desiners in the chains are usually much better at selling than they are at designing.
A kitchen plan from the trade suppliers
One of the disadvantages of buying from the chains is their high charges for fitting. Instead, you could hire a builder for your kitchen plan, who’ll go through a trade supplier like Howdens or Benchmarx.
The problem here is that trade suppliers like Howdens & Benchmarx also aren’t great when it comes to design. so, if you looking for a great design that makes good use of the available space , again, trade suppliers like Howdens & Benchmarx are probably not the best places to go either.
A kitchen plan from an independent showroom
The big difference between the chains & independent showrooms is that the sales designers in the chains tend to be good at sales & not so good at design. With Independents, the opposite is usually true – their sales designers tend to be great at design & not so good when it comes to sales tricks. The reason why sales designers in independents don’t need to be great at selling & know all the latest sales tricks is because that’s not how independent kitchen showrooms sell. Unlike the chains, Independents will give you their best price first without any sales tricks. They won’t try & mislead you into thinking you’re getting a bargain by inflation their prices so they can then knock 50% off.
Also, unlike the chains who’ll be able to knock you out a design in about 20 minutes, An independent showroom will take much longer to do your design. This is why they’ll usually invite you back a few days later to view the design. This is because it will probably take them 3 or 4 hours to do the design properly.
