Should you buy a J Pull Kitchen?
J Pull Kitchens, sometimes known as J Profile Kitchens, are handleless kitchens sold by a wide range of outlets. You can buy a J Pull Kitchen, for example, through large high-street chains like Wren, Magnet and Wickes. You can also access them via a builder from the major trade-only suppliers such as Howdens and Benchmarx. On the other hand, many of the smaller, independent kitchen showrooms also sell them.
J Pull Kitchens have a number of advantages, but they also have several drawbacks. So should you buy a J Pull Kitchen?
Reasons to buy a J Pull Kitchen
One of the main reasons to buy one is that they’re usually cheaper than true handleless kitchens.
They’re also good for small kitchens where space is limited. With true handleless kitchens, if you have two or more tall units in a run, you have to leave a fairly large gap between each of the units. This is to allow for the handleless channel rail that sits between each unit. In contrast, with a j pull kitchen you don’t need to do this.
Reasons not to buy a J Pull Kitchen
Unfortunately, though, a J Pull Kitchen also comes with some drawbacks. The first of these is that the doors can be difficult to open. This is because you open and close the doors with the tips of your fingers. This is particularly a problem with some integrated appliances. A dishwasher or a fridge-freezer, for example, requires a degree of force to open, which is difficult when you’re opening the doors with just you’re fingertips. You don’t have this problem with a true handleless kitchen.
The other problem with them is that they aren’t very durable. This is because the thin strip behind where your fingers go is prone to chipping and splitting. Again, you don’t get this problem with a true handleless kitchen.
