How do STORI Kitchens compare with other kitchen brands?
STORI Kitchens, previously know as Kitchen Stori, is a kitchen brand sold mostly via independent kitchen showrooms.
How good value are they? To know this, we have to compare them in price and quality to other brands sold by independents and to the kitchens on offer from places like Howdens, Wren, Magnet and Wickes.
How do STORI Kitchens compare with places like Wren, Howdens, Magnet and Wickes?
Before thinking of brands like STORI Kitchens, your first thought is likely to be one of the large high-street chains. Companies like Wren, Magnet and Wickes are familiar names, after all, and there’s probably a branch near you.
Alternatively, there are also large trade-only suppliers such as Howdens, Benchmarx and Magnet Trade. These are available via builders.
In all of these cases, though, there’s no comparison in quality with STORI Kitchens. STORI kitchens are higher-quality than the kitchens these places offer. This means they’ll last longer.
You’d expect to have to pay more for a higher-quality kitchen — but that’s not necessarily so. In fact, a STORI kitchen can sometimes work out no more expensive than a kitchen from somewhere like Wren, Howdens, Magnet or Wickes.
How do they compare with other brands sold by independents?
STORI are one of many brands sold by independent kitchen showrooms, and these vary in price and quality. So, while some ranges are similar in price to STORI, others are either more expensive or cheaper.
Likewise, while some brands are similar in quality to Kitchen Stori, there are others that are higher-quality and some that are lower-quality.
Is there a downside to buying a STORI kitchen?
STORI Kitchens might seem a perfect choice. However, it’s important to be aware that Stori are one of several “doors-only” kitchen brands. They only supply doors and panels. They don’t supply any other parts of the kitchen, such as the carcasses, drawers, hinges, mechanisms and storage solutions. Therefore, when a retailer quotes you for a Stori Kitchen, only the doors will be coming from Stori. The rest of the kitchen will be coming from elsewhere.
The problem with this is two-fold. Firstly, while STORI provide high-quality doors, there’s no way of knowing if the rest of your kitchen is of the same standard. The doors may be the most obvious element of a kitchen, but all the other components that make up a kitchen also need to be good-quality. If not, then the kitchen may not last as long as you’d expect it to.
Secondly, if, a few years down the line, you get a problem with the carcasses, drawers, hinges, mechanisms or storage solutions, if you try going back to the showroom and they’re no longer in business, what do you do? You cant go back to Stori Kitchens as they only supplied the doors.
If this concerns you, you may be better off buying a kitchen from a “complete” kitchen brand. ‘Complete’ brands supply all of the components of a kitchen, not just the doors.
