The downside of buying a Second Nature Kitchen
Second Nature are one of many ‘doors only’ kitchen brands. Therefore, if you buy a Second Nature Kitchen, although the doors will have come from Second Nature, the rest of the kitchen, ie the carcasses, drawers, hinges, mechanisms and storage solutions will have come from elsewhere.
The problem with this is two-fold. Firstly, if you’re looking at a Second Nature Kitchen, how do you know if the carcass, drawers, hinges, mechanisms and storage solutions being supplied are good-quality? Now, many people think that the quality of a kitchen is determined just by the quality of the doors. However, this isn’t true. The quality of a kitchen is determined by the quality of all the components that make up that kitchen, not just the doors. So, if the doors are high-quality, but the rest of the kitchen is low-quality, the kitchen won’t last. This problem is compounded by the fact that retailers usually only tell you that you’re buying a Second Nature Kitchen. Therefore, it’s difficult to know how good-quality the carcasses, drawers, hinges, mechanisms and storage solutions you’re buying are.
The other problem is that if, a few years down the line, you get a problem with the carcasses, drawers, hinges, mechanisms or storage solutions, if the showroom you purchased the kitchen from are no longer trading, who do you go back to? You cant go back to Second Nature as they only supplied the doors.
If you’re concerned about buying a kitchen from a ‘doors only’ brand like Second Nature, you should look at buying a kitchen from a ‘complete’ kitchen brand instead. ‘Complete’ brands manufacture all of the components of the kitchen, not just the doors, hence why they are called ‘complete’. There are a number of ‘complete’ brands available from independents.
