How to find the best-value kitchen suppliers?
Most kitchen suppliers claim to offer the best value, of course, that doesn’t really help the customer very much. Is there really a way to pick out the best-value kitchen suppliers, or is it just down to chance?
Avoid the high street kitchen suppliers & trade only suppliers
The kitchen suppliers that make the loudest claims are usually the large high street chains and trade only suppliers that builders use. The problem is they tend to have very high overheads. With their large stores, their only way of lowering the cost of their kitchens is to lower the quality.
With their never ending of 50% off sales, you might think you’re getting a bargain. However, nothing can be further from the truth. Not only are their sales fake. But their prices aren’t even that cheap.
To rub salt into the wounds, their kitchens are low quality and unlikely to last much longer than 5 or 6 years. Therefore, in our opinion, the high street chains and trade-only suppliers are the worst value kitchen suppliers.
Plus, when you buy a kitchen from a trade only supplier via a builder, you’re buying a kitchen with little or no come-back. This is because your contract is with the builder and not with the trade-only supplier. So, If you get a problem with the kitchen a few years down the line, when you go back to the trade-only supplier, they’ll usually tell you that they only deal with the trade and you need to go back to your builder. However, when you go back to your builder, they’ll usually tell you that they’re only responsible for the fitting and you’ll need to go back to the trade-only supplier. This toing and froing usually goes on for some time until people eventually give up.
Look for smaller Independent kitchen suppliers
If you find a good value independent kitchen showroom, you’ll pay similar to the chains and trade only suppliers, but get a higher quality kitchen that will last longer. So, rather than getting a kitchen that will last 5 or 6 years, their kitchens should last at least 15-20 years.
Stick with one supplier for everything
It may seem like a good idea to shop around for the worktops and appliances, but there’s lots of reasons why you’ll be better of buying everything from the same supplier. When you do a kitchen project, The more suppliers you use, the greater the risk that problems will arise. These problems usually delay completion of the project and can be stressful and costly to resolve. Besides, most independent kitchen showrooms are usually similar in price to third party suppliers for their worktops and appliances.
Use your kitchen suppliers as fitters
The chains charge a high price for fitting, and it’s tempting to use a builder who’ll charge less. The problem is that even if the builder is competent, each kitchen has its own quirks. The showroom that’s supplied it will be expert at fitting that particular brand of kitchen and charge similar to a builder.
This means not only that they’re less likely to make mistakes, but they’ll be finished more quickly & usually do a much better job. Plus, if anything should go wrong, there’ll be no wrangling over responsibility as you’ve only used one supplier — So, it’ll be sorted quickly and quietly.
Which kitchen suppliers?
Unfortunately, not all independent kitchen showrooms charge similar to the chains and trade only suppliers for the units. Some charge more than the chains and trade only suppliers.
